I have some very exciting news to share with you today!
I was contacted not long ago by BurnThis, a fitness motivation app, about the opportunity to become an ambassador for their company. And I'm super excited to announce that I accepted and am now officially a #BurnThis Ambassador.
If you don't already know via my many Instagram (pardonmuahinsta) pics, fitness is a huge part of my life and always has been. I started ballet at the young age of two...you know when they hand you a scarf and tell you to improv some silly wiggles that your parents interpret as dance haha...and that evolved into a 16 year career as a ballet dancer. I was fortunate enough to join The Lexington Ballet as a company member during 8th grade and stayed with them until i was a senior in high school. As much as it broke my mother's heart, I finally had to pursue other things. I truly believe ballet gave me immense amounts of discipline and structure. It's a beautiful art (and yes I will argue with you that it is a sport) and I will cherish my many years twirling on my toes.
Once I entered college I took on the gym life, which was okay, but not super motivating. I am one of those people who performs better when someone is picking apart my form and watching my every move. It's hard for me to get motivated when the gym is empty and I'm not always great about telling myself to keep going.
Luckily, during graduate school I found Pure Barre and fell in love. Seriously, love. If you've never taken a class you should - don't be intimidated! It's a hybrid boutique workout that combines ballet, pilates and yoga. Series of small movements that exhaust the muscles - lifting, toning and burning (#ltb). The teachers are so motivating and your fellow LTBers become like family. I was even more fortunate to become a Pure Barre teacher when I moved for my "big girl" job a year and a half ago. It's probably one of the hardest things I've ever done, but it is the most rewarding job I have ever had. It's challenged me in the best way possible and I couldn't live without my best friends and fellow teachers. It's rare to find such an encouraging and uplifting group of women.
This is the first time I've really talked about fitness on my blog, mostly because my content revolves around makeup, accessories and some clothing. But there is something to be said about the beauty of staying healthy. Not just fit...being healthy is just as important. It's true that beauty starts from within and it can be a total mood changer. I know sometimes the last thing I want to do after a long day is head to the studio, but afterwards I feel so good, happy and accomplished.
So back to BurnThis! Due to my fitness background and teaching qualification I am so happy to help in the promotion of BurnThis and the motivation of others via their app (if you haven't downloaded it while reading what are you waiting for!?). I have been so impressed by the quality of their website and their app. Very professional and very classy. I'll be posting on Instagram and sending updates here on the blog to let you know how it's going and any fun opportunities. You can click here to go their website.
