WINTER SKIN CARE ROUTINE

Skin Care Routine

Good Morning!

I've had several questions throughout the time I've been blogging about my skin care routine and how I keep my skin hydrated and clear. I have to partly thank genetics for my usually clear skin, but I also have my routine down to a science. I really don't experiment when it comes to my face, because I have very, very sensitive skin. I feel like you could look at my face wrong and it would turn splotchy and red ha! Most of the items above I've repurchased many times, so I feel confident telling you I love them and that they work.

I've displayed them in the order that I use them and if I use them every day, in the morning, or on the weekend when I give my face a really good cleaning. + the best, best, blemish drying lotion you'll find.

Every Day

MAC Cleanse Off Oil
I have found this to be the best eye makeup remover. Especially if you pile on the mascara like I do, or you wear mascara that is waterproof. This is always my first step in taking off my makeup, because you are supposed to use it on a dry face. This causes your makeup to emulsify and it slides right off!

Simple Micellar Water or MAC Makeup Removing Wipes
After I rub in the cleanse off oil I will use either my simple micellar water or my MAC makeup wipes to take off the cleanse off oil and all of my makeup. For the micellar water I use a cotton round. The best part about micellar water is that you don't have to rinse it off. So on days I don't wear much makeup or none at all, I will only use this and it's a breeze! As for the makeup wipes, MAC's are by far the best I've ever used. I know this may seem excessive, but the ones from the drugstore always seem so dried out and I usually have to use more than one to get off all of my makeup.

Clarisonic Mia3 + First Aid Beauty Cleanser
After my makeup, or at least the first layer is removed, I will place a dollop of First Aid Beauty's cleanser in the middle of my Clarisonic. The beauty of the Clarisonic is that it exfoliates dead skin while also getting off all the extra makeup residue. The Clarisonic works best if used on a regular basis. I'm pretty bad about forgetting, but I do notice a difference if I use it every night.

Mario Badescu Toner
Many of you may not use a toner or see the point, but I highly recommend it! Mario Badescu's blue glycolic toner is my favorite. I use another cotton round and swipe this all over my face before my moisturizer and it leaves my face feeling ultra clean. No need to rinse off and if there's any makeup left after your cleanse off and Clarisonic, this will do that trick!

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream
First Aid Beauty makes such amazing face care products and for such a wonderful price! I've been buying their ultra repair cream for years now and it leaves my face hydrated all night without making it too sticky. I can even use it under my makeup! I normally buy the travel size, because I don't like dipping my hands into a container of product, but it still lasts a long time! A little really goes a long way.

Ole Henriksen Fresh Start Eye Cream
This is a great, universal eye cream. There's nothing particularly special about it, but it does the trick! I use this at night because it's more hydrating. I accidentally broke the container right after I purchased, but I was lucky enough to scoop most of the product into a travel container :).

Dior Creme de Rose Lip Balm
I've said this many times, and so will every beauty guru, but this is the best lip creme everrrr! You might faint at the price, but nothing compares. I have horrible dry lips in the winter months...horrible. And no one wants dry, cracked, peeling lips, especially when you work in an environment where you have to talk to people every day. Plus, wearing lipstick that is matte or drying can become a nightmare if your lips aren't properly hydrated. Do yourself a favor and give this product a try! My first balm lasted me month and months - I keep it in my bedside drawer.

Morning

Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation Cream
This is a product I haven't repurchased, but received as a sample with a Sephora order I made. I've been using it ever since and love it underneath my makeup. It's super sheer and leaves the face feeling soft and smooth, ready for primer & foundation. I plan to buy the full size once I'm all out.

Origins Ginzing Eye Cream
To me, most eye creams are the same, but this one is particularly special! The ginseng makes your eye feel so awake! It even has a luminous property that gives the skin a beautiful glow. I always stock up on samples for travel too!

Sundays

First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Polish
Talk about a product that lasts! I received a deluxe sample of this exfoliator so long ago and still have a ton left. Mostly, because I don't use it every day or even every week, but it's so incredibly gentle, that when I do need to exfoliate this is my go to! Again, I have sensitive skin so most exfoliators leave my skin upset and red, but this one doesn't at all - and it's very affordable!

Elf Lip Exfoliator
I think this lip exfoliator is only $3! Yes folks, $3! I've tried cream exfoliators on my lips, but I always feel like there is residue left behind. This one is like a lipstick so it exfoliates without making a mess. Great to use before applying a matte lipstick!

Glam Glow Supermud Clearing Treatment
Okay, we are entering high-end territory now, but you won't regret it if you have the cash to spare. AND this product and the one below can be purchased in travel size for a much lesser cost. The mask is something I have committed to using once a week, usually on Sundays. You leave it on for 20 minutes (or overnight for spot treatments) and you can literally watch the impurities get pulled out of your skin. It's non-irritating and isn't just a gimmick. A lot of masks, to me, are questionable, but this one I can watch working.

Glam Glow Thirsty Mud  Hydrating Treatment
I use this product 1-3 times a week. This moisturizer smells like coconuts and a beach vacation so it's also pleasing to the senses. It's incredibly hydrating and I put this on before I go to bed. No need to rinse off - you'll wake up with smooth, great smelling skin! For those of you that self tan I highly recommend for the days after your first application (if you self tan your face). This is also a must have for all of you who travel via airplane frequently where the air is super drying.

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion
If you buy any of the products in this post, THIS IS THE ONE. If I ever have a blemish I will use a Q-tip and apply this drying lotion to the spot before bed and in the morning it is either gone or drastically reduced in size and redness! No joke! I've recommended this several times and everyone who has used this has agreed that it's amazing. This product will also last you a very long time!

Congrats if you made it all the way through this post! Phew! My fingers are even tired from typing haha. I really hope some of this was helpful...I know finding a good skin care routine and the right products can be hard and it's a lot of trial and error. But once you have it down to a science I encourage you to stick to it! If you have any other questions please let me know.
