Hello, Friends! It feels like it's been so long since I last posted. I'm quite tardy with today's post as I missed Monday but hey, better late than never right?! I'm super excited to share this special set of photos today. Justin and I decided to head up to Tahoe on our last day in California because, in our two years of living there, had never gone (gasp). Our friends were constantly telling us how much we were missing out. So we couldn't leave without seeing it for ourselves and took a fun day trip to see the sites and to take some scenic photos.

Visiting Tahoe was the first time I actually felt like it was Fall. I couldn't believe that the temps went as low as in the 30's while we were driving up. Most of the day it was between 40-60 degrees which were perfect for sweater and scarf wearing! There's nothing better than a cozy knit and a plaid scarf paired with an amazing skinny jean and comfy booties. It was the best!

Since we were only in Tahoe for a day, we decided to drive up to the main part of Lake Tahoe first. Probably what most people think of when they hear "Tahoe." It's where you'll see all the casinos and commercial hotels. It's kind of funny because all of the casinos have to be in Nevada so at one point you cross over states and you'd never even know it. Even though it's touristy, it's still quite nice. I actually saw a gorgeous hotel that I told Justin we HAVE to go back to one day.

We left the house around 7am so we were very ready for breakfast once we arrived so we found a cute little restaurant called Heidi's Pancake House where we saw people pouring in from surrounding hotels - so we figured it had to be good. In all honesty, I wasn't all that impressed but that's probably because I'm dairy-free and traditional breakfast places don't cater to my dietary restriction. BUT, if you can eat gravy and biscuits, it's definitely the place to go! It was apparent that it's a tourist fav.

After breakfast, we walked out to the water where the views were just amazing! The water and sky were so blue, surrounded by snow-capped mountains. I could imagine myself waking up in the hotel I found in a room facing the water, walking out onto a balcony with a hot coffee in hand... I'm obviously planning a trip back in my mind. It was rather chilly so we headed out to drive around Emerald Bay which takes you to Tahoe City, a less touristy, but equally beautiful area.

Boy, was the drive a little scary! One of my friend's warned us but I really didn't know what to expect. Don't get me wrong it's incredibly scenic but there are some serious drop-offs without guard rails. I kept telling Justin not to look around for fear we would drive off the mountain haha. I seriously don't know how people do it in the winter... no, thank you! We were able to stop on our drive to take some more photos. There are lots of pull off areas for people to do just this and it was surprisingly busy.

Once we got into Tahoe City it was close to lunchtime (and I was hungry from not eating much breakfast) so we decided to eat at a restaurant on the water. We ended up at Jakes On The Lake and I'm so glad we did! We were able to sit outside right on the water where it was so sunny I had to take my scarf off. I had the yummiest salad with apples and candied walnuts - mmmm! We were able to relax, look out at the boats coming in and out, and soak in our last full day as Californians.

After lunch, we decided to walk around Tahoe City's main street where there were adorable shops and tons of trees changing colors. We found some beautiful spots to snap some additional photos as you can see above. The last stop on my Tahoe bucket list was to get some coffee at a quaint coffee shop so we walked until we found Syd's Bagelery and Espresso. You can tell it's a mom & pop type of place which is exactly what I wanted. I got a peppermint mocha and Justin got a smoothie, after which we felt completely satisfied with our trip.

If you've never been to Tahoe I highly recommend you go! It's beautiful in the winter with all of the snow but I really love that we went in October when navigating is a little bit easier and the weather is warm enough you don't need a coat.

Have a fabulous Wednesday!
