Lately I feel like the spokesperson for H&M, but I've been so pleased with what they have to offer and have found some great staple pieces. I've said it before, but this year I'm really trying to stay ahead of the wardrobe game by buying fall & winter wear in advance. Plus I've been doing A LOT of cleaning out and have some holes to fill in my closet.

I don't own all the pieces above, but I have tried them on and was incredibly pleased by the fit and the quality. My personal fav? #4! I decided to retire some of my coats this year that I've had for years and years (one was even from the "girls" section hah). This coat comes in several colors and is even lined in a super soft & warm material AND is covers your behind, which is awesome! The hood is fabulous and lined in fur (and it doesn't feel cheap). It also has waistline drawstrings so it's even more flattering to the body! #winner.

A fun fact about #5? It has a hood that rolls up into the collar - how cool is that?!

I woke up Sunday to an email from Target (and a zillion other companies I've shopped with...so much junk mail!), but I actually decided to open it up and saw some of the prettiest plaid pieces for fall! Home decor, shoes, makeup, clothing and accessories! 

I decided to browse online since the weather here was horrible all weekend. I tried to run errands on Saturday and within 15 minutes saw four accidents and got stuck in bumper to bumper traffic. So Sunday I decided to stay in, sleep late, wear my pjs all day, cuddle with Heidi, blog and watch Halloween movies (who else is ready for ABC Family's 13 Days of Halloween?!). 

I have to say I love the home decor pieces, but sadly none really match my apartment. But, I think the candle would be really pretty since I have a lot of black & white and I go through candles like no ones business! I bought a candle warmer so I can keep my favorite candles for a very long time, but it's not very aesthetically pleasing to the eye so I need to find a fancier one.

Wine Time

In honor of the wine festival I will be attending this weekend with my girlfriends (yummmm!), I decided to highlight the color as well (aka burgundy). Wine/Burgundy is going to be one of my favorite shades this season and on into winter. I'm not much for bright red clothing and accessories, but I'll take a nice burgundy any day, especially on my nails. I've compiled some of my favorite items in this stunning hue so I hope you enjoy!

Right now it's a 90% chance of rain, and instead of deciding not to go, my friends and I have already planned our cold weather, rain proof outfits - Bean boots and Hunter boots are definitely on the list! Along with a blanket scarf or two...fingers crossed it doesn't rain all day!

My bestie and I visited our local Altar'd State store a couple weekends ago and I found some of the most beautiful jewelry. I'm all about my Alex & Ani bracelets and enjoy mixing in bracelets of other textures. Luckily, I found a set of three dainty beaded bracelets and also a connected set of four (here and similar) that have the most adorable tassel! They also make a fun jingling sound like Alex & Ani's.

I was also on the hunt for some fun earrings now that my hair is short. I found a pair of beaded hoops with blonde colored beads (I couldn't find online) and the reason I fell so in love is that they are incredibly light! Both of the holes in my ears are torn from wearing heavy earrings and having thin earlobes (it's really a pain). So normally I can only wear studs, but these I can wear all day without feeling pain or feeling anxious that I'm making my ears any worse. They also had some similar in a grey color (here) that I'm tempted to stop by and purchase. Plus their jewelry is really well priced!

Happy First Day of Fall!

So I saw the new fall Starbucks cups on Instagram and was so disappointed when my store didn't have them, but turns out they were waiting until the first day of fall - so I ran over before work and got a Toasted Graham Latte - OMG! So yummy! But seriously, how adorable is this year's design? It makes sipping your coffee even more enjoyable. 

In honor of the first day of fall, which btw way is gorgeous here in SW Virginia, I decided to share some of my favorite blanket scarves below. I feel like this trend got super popular last year an this year they are all the rage again. Make sure to pick yours up early, because the best ones always sell out! And they are so cozy and comfy to wear, especially if you are cold natured like I am. 

Two of the scarves listed below are under $15! I also included one high-end, because I do own a Burberry scarf and I really have gotten my wear out of it in the past few years (a big hug and thanks to my wonderful father who picked it up in England on a trip!). My #1 recommendation is probably for the scarf in the lower left corner. Incredibly well made and a great color combo for so many outfits.

Recently I asked what kinds of posts you all would like to see in the upcoming weeks and fall polish was one of them! I've compiled a list of my all time favorite OPI gel polishes (see full list here) that I'll be wearing in fall & winter (some I wear all year). Keep in mind, you can buy these in regular polish as well, not just gel.

I have acrylics with gel polish. I know it isn't that great for my nails, but it keeps my polish on and my nails looking great at all times (I usually get them done every two weeks). Right now and almost always my nails are a square shape.

 Is there anything better than a slightly oversized tee, some flared denim, a beautiful day, and brunch with your best girlfriends!? I don't think so! I headed downtown yesterday to a scrumptious brunch restaurant where I over indulged in eggs, apple cider bacon (yummm), a biscuit and lots of coffee. It was delicious and just what I needed to brighten my week. One of my friends was in town visiting from Charleston and I was so happy we were able to girl talk and catch up! (come home Miss Morgan we miss you)

I'm loving this "all you need is love" tee from Oliver & Otis (Instagram OLIVERANDOTIS). They are a Texas based company started by two sisters and they make the most adorable shirts with super cute sayings in all sorts of colors - make sure to check them out! 

Lately, I'm all about a t-shirt that isn't too fitted. I love the comfort factor and also the ability to tuck in one corner. Plus you can eat mass quantities of breakfast food and not have to worry about your shirt being too tight haha! I paired my tee with these SP Black Belted High Rise Flare Leg Jeans (dark wash unavailable - medium wash here). The best part? I don't have to hem them (I'm 5'2")! Yes, I am wearing 4 inch heels, but that's the norm for me and I'll pair them with booties this fall/winter. My bag is the Tory Burch Marion Quilted Chain-Shoulder Slouchy Tote in Jitney Green (also loving this!) and has been my go to for months. I can't remember the last time I've carried the same bag every day for this long. The leather is super soft and the chain shoulder straps can be worn long or short (see photos)!

On a side note, I tried wearing my short hair curly (using my Nume curling wand) for this first time this weekend and I"m really liking it! So much more than I ever thought I would. Having balayage coloring in my hair creates wonderful dimension and the cut allows the curls to fall just right.

I don't know about you but I am sooo ready for the weekend. I seriously need to get myself organized. I've been out of sorts this week and have let my apartment and organizational skills go down the drain. I haven't even worked out! So I'm planning to get up on time (this never happens) Saturday & Sunday so that I can finish cleaning out and so I can utilize all of the free time the weekend has to offer. I'm meeting up with good friends for Pure Barre Saturday morning and then going out for lunch with one of my PB besties who recently moved away. Then the usual blog planning, grocery shopping, puppy cuddling, wine sipping, cleaning, etc. etc. etc. 

To be honest, I've sort of been in a funk lately and I'm trying to snap out of it. I don't know if it's the seasons changing or just the ever changing events of my life. 2015 has been a very transitional year for me and I've been waiting for 2016 since January hah - no joke! I keep telling myself the hard work and the life experience (all that it entails) will pay off in the end. But for a pessimist like myself that's easier said than done. Sometimes I wish there were a rule book for life (anyone else feel me?), but then I guess it wouldn't be quite as exciting. I'm definitely excited to my move, because it will be a much needed change of scenery. New furniture, new artwork, new space. Plus I've had to force myself to purge quite a bit - paperwork, trinkets, makeup, clothing, etc. which in turn makes my mind feel much less chaotic. Which proves helpful as I try to navigate the day to day. Always asking myself what comes next? Where do I belong? Where should my career take me? Should I buy another morkie (kidding)?

Is your mind spinning yet? hah! I don't know if any of you ask yourselves the same things on a daily basis. I feel like life is a roller coaster of questions and events. Some days I feel like life is perfect and I'm headed in the right direction...the next I wonder what in the world I'm doing. I'm definitely not perfect and I've made my fair share of mistakes, but I truly believe if I remain authentic and honest it will all sort itself out in the end. I struggle to not let past experiences shape my actions and reactions in work, love and life - but again, easier said than done. It's all a process of successes and failures, where both shape us into the people we are. And in the end all I/we/you can do is just keep strutting along in the pursuit of all of the things we want. Maybe take a chance or two (this is where I should take my own advice)?! And hope those chances pay off.

This post goes out to all my vertically challenged beauties who are trying to find flared jeans they don't need to hem. If you're like me, you avoid tailoring at all costs. I love instant gratification!

I recently found and tried on these flared jeans and was astonished (with heels/booties) they fit me perfectly and I'm only 5'2"! I know everyone is preparing for the fall season so I wanted to share these before you've spent your fall budget. The price points are perfect and the quality fantastic! I highly recommend. 

To give you an idea of sizing (I normally wear a 00 or a 24 in pants)...I ordered a 0 in the STS Blue Nikki Flare Leg Skinny Jeans and they are a tad tight. I debated ordering a 1, but ended up wearing them hah - oh well! I ordered a 25 in the SP Black High Rise Flare Leg Jeans and these jeans fit like a dream! I'm almost tempted to buy a second pair, because they are going to get so much wear. Both were purchased online from Nordstrom (I love shopping with them because shipping and returns are free, making it a painless process), but usually you can also buy direct from the brands online. I know the SP jeans are only available in one size right now on Nordstrom so I would try and go straight to the SP site. And it looks like the STS jeans are available in several sizes!

Fall Trends

Mark your calendars. The first day of fall is September 23!

I've never been more excited for Fall to roll around. This summer has been tiring, chaotic, super hot and honestly fairly stressful. I've welcomed girl time, baseball games and Taco Tuesday's, but I'm pretty ready to ring in October (plus I get to move apartments next month yay!).

I've picked out several fall trends that I'm loving this year. There are others like a new variation of goth and chic geek, but I'm really more of a pretty & polished, minimalist, trend type of girl.

Flared Jeans - The 70's called. They want their jeans back :). Okay, so I'm not a huge lover of 70's style, BUT I love me some flared denim. My favorite flared denim is tight to the leg, starts flaring after the knee and continues until it skims the floor (with booties or heels on). This style jean can prove frustrating for super tall ladies and also those of us who are vertically challenged. You really have to try multiple pairs of jeans if you want to find the perfect length without a tailor. More times than not you will need to get them hemmed, but you might get lucky! I've found two pairs that fit like a dream, including the pair above. I'm 5'2" and I usually wear 3-4 inch heels. Nordstrom has a great selection and many of them are less than $60.

Fun Phone Cases - I've been loving the fun phone case trend and some are super extreme. Recently I was reading People Style Watch magazine and they had a phone case with hair and even one shaped like a soda pop with a straw. Now if you want to put your phone in your back pocket some of these are not ideal or absolutely will not fit, but they sure are fun and a great way to express yourself. Right now I have one from Kate Spade that is clear with rose gold dots. The best part?! It's super thin so my phone feels like it isn't so bulky.

The Lob (aka the long bob) - I could not be happier that shorter hair is all the rage right now! If you've been following me for a while or even the past few weeks, you know I recently cut off inches and inches of hair. And I promise I didn't do it to be trendy! I just needed a change, and at this time it's the quickest thing to transform (I thought about winning a million dollars, but it seemed less obtainable hah). I have an angled bob, which is shorter than "the lob", but I've seen a lot of shorter bobs as well...lots of news casters lately AND Miss Kelly Rippa (sigh...love her!). 

Platform Sandals - I love a good platform (all my short ladies feel me right?!) This season a lot of designers are coming out with platforms in various colors and textures (ie velvet), much like the ones above by Steve Madden. Compared to stilettos, platforms offer a lot more stability and comfort, and usually hold the foot in more securely. I'm drooling over the wine colored pair above and I'd love a nice pair of leopard print.

Booties - Hello beautiful! Hello booties! If you don't already own a pair, go go go - you need some! Booties were really popular last year and thank goodness they are gracing the pages of magazines and catalogs again. I love trends that last for several seasons or years so that I get my money's worth. I've heard the booties above by Jeffrey Campbell are super comfortable and come in a tan and in a dark taupe. I love the leather, because I own so many suede booties and I'm always afraid the dye on my dark flared jeans will transfer.

Fringe Everything - Put some fringe on it and call it a day! Fringe heels, fringe booties, fringe shirts, fringe boots, fringe bags...get the idea?? A lot of fringe. Just be careful! There is such a thing as fringe overload. Pairing a piece with fringe and a simple outfit can make for the perfect statement.

Hunter Green - This is my favorite color for fall (and wine...I mean can you have just one favorite color?). The vest above is a perfect example of how to wear this season's shade of green. I even found these awesome booties from Sole Society! The nice thing about owning a non-brown/black/tan bootie is that it will go with just about any neutral outfit!

Mod Makeup - I love liquid liner and I looove a cat eye! And one of this seasons trends is mod makeup. I'm not much for white eyeliner, at least on myself, but I wear a cat eye almost every day! I find that it really brings out the eye and can even change the shape. It's a lot of trial and error, but KatVonD's Tattoo Liner makes it so much easier!

Hello & Happy Monday!

How about that University of Kentucky football win?! I have to give my CATS a shout out!

Today's post is short & sweet, but I had to share my new favorite work dress! I found this last weekend at H&M and absolutely fell in love. I work in a corporate environment and I feel like this dress is the perfect mix of pretty & appropriate (it even has a triangle cut out at the top in the back). I like the fact that it's structured and the length is perfect for my small stature (I'm 5'2"). I'm also wearing my favorite pair of work shoes by Jessica Simpson. I found them at TJ Maxx for $35 and they are extremely comfortable. I go through black work heels like it's my job - somehow I always seem to step into the cracks of the sidewalk, scuffing the leather on all my heels.

I've linked the dress (could only find the white online) & heels above so make sure to check them out. This dress would also be perfect for a cocktail party, a dinner event, a horse race (another shout out to my home state of Kentucky!), a business lunch, or really anywhere you want something more conservative but still a little sassy.

I hope your week starts out well - I know I'll be grabbing a pumpkin spice latte and some yummy snacks (does anyone else have snack drawer at work? No? Maybe it's just me hah!) before heading into the office. Work has been pretty draining lately and very, very busy so if I'm not organized from the start of my week, it's all down hill. I'm all about to-do lists in pink ink on a patterned clip board, some fun post-its and of course my Kate Spade 2016 gold dot agenda. So here's to a great week!


Weekend Wear

It's finally the end of the week and I've never been more ready for the weekend. I thought I'd share a comfortable weekend outfit perfect for the upcoming in between temps! It's supposed to be low 70s here and I cannot wait to pull out my Lush long sleeve tee (shown above) and some gorgeous fall booties. I'm also cold natured so as soon as the weather gets remotely cool I'm ready with Uggs, a hot chocolate and a soft, slouchy sweater. I hope you have something fun planned! I'm pretty ready for October to roll around - pumpkin patches, caramel apples, fall wine tastings, football tailgates, and a caramel apple spice from Starbucks.

Beauty Haul

I thought I'd go ahead and review all of the products now since I've been using them consistently. Some I have loved and some I actually returned - let me tell you why! Look for product titles in red for the ones I didn't fall in love with.

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water (travel size)
To be honest I really couldn't tell the difference in the longevity of my makeup after using this. I prefer to use my Fix+ spray before my primer instead. The mist on Fix+ is much more even and refreshing. I ended up returning, because I didn't feel like I was getting my money's worth.

Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray
Love this! This was a repurchase (I've probably gone through four bottles) and I still love it. I apply 8-12 sprays to my face before I apply my mascara. I do think it makes a difference!

MAC Prep & Prime Fix+
Love it! Love it! Love it! This is a beauty staple for many reasons. The way I've been using it: I apply several sprays to my face after my moisturizer and before my primer to refresh my skin and to help my primer adhere. Then, after I finish my face, but before my eye makeup I will apply about 8 sprays to help the makeup I've applied sink into my skin and also for a dewy finish.

Make Up For Ever Step1 Skin Equalizer Smoothing Primer
Okay, my skin did not like this product AT ALL. Once I got home I had a feeling this was going to break me out, because it's the same consistency as Benefit's Porefessional, which clogs my pores instead of smoothing them out. I experienced several break outs after using Step1 and quickly returned. I made sure to use this separate from other new face products to make sure it wasn't something else causing my skin to react. Note: A lot of people love this primer - so I would give it a try for yourself if you're interested.

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation (128)
LOVE! I've used this foundation before, but I feel like the reformulation is so much better. The coverage is amazing and it has a nice sheen once applied. Thank goodness for the beauty consultant who perfectly matched my color so now my self tanned skin matches my face! Worth the $$. My coworker even commented on the evenness and smoothness of my skin.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer (Light Warm)
Winner winner! If you love MAC's Prolongwear concealer you need to try this! You may not go back. Not because it's necessarily superior, but it's so much easier to apply with the doe foot applicator. I am in loveeeee with the shade light warm as well. It's the second to lightest shade and brings the perfect amount of brightness to my face. This is also the most long wearing of any concealer I've tried (I like to apply my MAC Prep & Prime in radiant rose before).

Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Medium/Deep Matte Bronzer
You need it! Go buy it! Go go go! The perfect shade and it smells like chocolate - need I say more? You can thank me later :).

Make Up For Ever Pro Bronze Fusion (20M)
I was super surprised and impressed with this bronzer. I have been switching between this and the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil. At first I felt like I wasn't getting much product on my brush, because it doesn't have a super soft consistency, but it really does bring the right amount of color to my face and also a beautiful sheen which I love! 

MAC Cremesheen Lipstick (Creme D'Nude)
If you love nude lipstick and don't have this you are missing out! Can't believe I lived without it for so long. It will stay in my makeup bag in my purse foreverrrr. 

Glam Glow Thirsty Cleanse Daily Treatment Cleanser
Sadly this product was my biggest disappointment. Let me start by saying I love Glam Glow's clearing mask (see Tuesday's post HERE) and their thirstymud treatment, but this thirsty cleanse DID NOT sit well with my skin. I have very, very sensitive skin, which is why I rarely switch up my skincare routine. I tried this cleanser for three or four days before realizing what was happening to my face. After about a day I had red tiny blisters under my nose and on my chin - really strange! And when I moved my face it felt tight and sore. It's possible this could have been from the new primer, but I've never experienced a reaction like this before and I don't think that's supposed to happen (please correct me if I'm wrong). Anyhow, it completely freaked me out and I returned it along with the primer water and Step1 primer. Again, if you don't have sensitive skin you may end up loving this.

I'm pretty sure I've talked about this product before, but I'm talking about it again today!
If you've never tried any of Glam Glow's products you should run out to your closest Sephora and try some samples. They are a higher priced skin care company, but in my experience worth the money. Their creams and cleansers are very high-quality and produce the results they claim (in my experience). I recently repurchased the Glam Glow Supermud Clearing Treatment, because my skin has been horrible and angry. 

The product claims to help with pores, problem skin, skin imperfections, clarifying, spots, razor bumps (I actually didn't know this until I was writing this) and in-grown hair. It's also paraben free! I have very sensitive skin and this mask has never irritated my skin. It barely leaves my face red after and any redness that does occur quickly goes away.

I like to use this mask once or twice a week. Usually Sundays are when I go through my big, long skincare routine. I place a layer of the Supermud all over my face, avoiding my eyes and let it dry for 20 minutes (you can also use this for spot treatments). Once the Supermud begins to dry you can actually see it pulling the impurities out of your skin (no joke!). It's sort of gross, but sort of cool all at the same time. Once I'm ready to remove, I use a warm wash cloth and remove all of the product. I guarantee your face will already feel refreshed! I follow up with a moisturizer (Glam Glow Thirsty Mud is also fantastic!).

I thought I'd share a couple of outfit pics today! I've been enjoying the in between weather lately, although my office is always cold and by the afternoon it's like a sauna outside. For work I usually stick to cropped dress pants in the summer (mostly because they don't have to be hemmed) and cute work appropriate tops. I keep a sweater in my office at all times just in case I have an admin meeting. I also keep a pair of hose on standby, but let's be real...who wears hose anymore?! I also have to wear closed toe shoes, but lately have been sneaking in a peep toe :). 

In my downtime I love pulling out fun silky camis and jeans. It's an effortless style that doesn't take much thought. I normally keep things pretty basic. I'm really not a clothes horse either, so I wear the same pieces over and over and over - which is why sometimes I splurge on items I love. 

P.S. The Alo Yoga work out pants above are the best yoga pants of all time (at least in my opinion). They are thick, suck you in in all the right places and wash well (I never dry my work out clothes). If you can find a pair near you or can order them I don't think you'll be disappointed! They do run long, but I actually like being able to dress them up with wedges for dinner & drinks after a barre class.

Goodbye August! Hello September! (geez this year is flying by)

I shared this photo on Instagram two weekends ago and thought it was important to also share here on Pardon Muah and to talk a little bit about feeling confident with or without makeup. I've never posted a picture showing off my bare skin and figured it was time. It's not that I'm scared to post my no makeup face, but you never know what people are going to say, and usually I just don't think to do it. Luckily, everyone was so sweet and kind! I've been incredibly fortunate to meet such nice people and new friends via social media. Always so supportive and uplifting!

Playing with makeup and perfecting your daily routine can be incredibly fun and can do amazing things (see picture above hah), but there's nothing more important than feeling beautiful in your own skin. I know some of you may be thinking, "Amanda, you always wear makeup what are you talking about?" And to answer any inquiring minds, yes, I do wear makeup daily, but it's a lot of fun for me and I look at it as an art form, not a necessity of life :). I know that may sound strange, but I like the creative aspect of makeup and beauty products. I love testing new items and using tools and palettes I haven't played with in a while. And I'm always learning. And that's a lot of trial and error...okay a lot of error. Thank goodness for makeup wipes (right?!).

In my opinion, the best makeup enhances your favorite features without distorting what you were already blessed with. Yes, sometimes it's fun to be ultra dramatic, but there's always a time and a place. I truly believe women should do what makes them feel confident, whether that's wearing makeup or not wearing any at all. And in the end we should all uplift each other for expressing ourselves in our own way. One negative comment can completely tear down someones self image and unfortunately those comments usually stem from a place of insecurity. So next time a little judgmental thought creeps into your mind stop and think where it's coming from and try to turn it into something positive. I always feel it's much more fulfilling to give a compliment. It brightens the recipient's day and also your own - and the more you do it the more natural it becomes! 

Just some food for thought and I felt like sharing some encouraging words today.
